About Dr Cheong You Wei

Dr. Cheong is a distinguished plastic surgeon who graduated from the University of Malaya, where he developed a strong passion for surgery. He completed his training in general surgery at the University Malaya Medical Centre to qualify as a  general surgeon. Dr. Cheong then undertook rigorous training in plastic surgery to become a qualified plastic surgeon and enhanced his expertise through a Fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at the esteemed Chang Gung Memorial Hospitals in Taipei and Taoyuan, Taiwan. Additionally, he has gained insights from visiting several premier cosmetic surgery centers in Seoul, South Korea.

As a qualified and registered plastic surgeon in the National Specialist Register of Malaysia under the Ministry of Health, Dr. Cheong is board-certified and actively involved in reputable organizations such as the Malaysian Association of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Craniofacial Surgeons (MAPACS), the Malaysian Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (MSPRS), the Oriental Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (OSAPS), and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).

In his role as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at University Putra Malaysia, Dr. Cheong has made significant contributions to the field, publishing a wealth of research papers. He is also a co-author of a chapter in the influential plastic surgery textbook titled “Tumors of the Craniofacial Skeleton,” edited by P. Neligan. His expertise extends to writing articles for various medical journals, magazines, and newspapers, and he frequently shares his knowledge as a guest speaker on radio programs dedicated to plastic and aesthetic surgery. Dr. Cheong recognizes the vital importance of continuous professional development and actively engages in local and international plastic surgery conferences and workshops. He is committed to enhancing his skills and knowledge while sharing valuable insights with fellow surgeons.
