FACELIFT

FACELIFT

Overview
alt
Signs of aging of the face include wrinkles around the eyes and the mouth, sagging of midface, appearance of jowl, formation of deep creases below the lower eyelids and along the nose to the corner of the mouth and blunting of the jawline. Skin folds appear in the neck and the angle between the chin and the neck becomes blunted.

Facelift is a powerful treatment modality when it comes to rejuvenation of advanced face aging and is able to provide long lasting results for facial rejuvenation. Facelift not only can lift and tighten the loose and sagging skin, but also elevate the sagging underlying soft tissue to a normal and more youthful position.

For more comprehensive facial rejuvenation, facelift often are combined with other procedures such as browlift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), neck liposuction, fat grafting, neck lift and other facial cosmetic procedures.

Duration: 3-5 hours
Anaesthesia: General anaesthesia, local anaesthesia with sedation for mini facelift
When to Go Home after Surgery: Usually one night stay in hospital. Mini facelift can go home on the same day.
Recovery Time: 1-2 weeks
Technique: There are a variety of techniques for facelift surgery. Each facelift operation is unique and tailored individually to the specific needs and anatomy of each patient. In essence a standard facelift surgery involves the following steps:
  1. Incision begins in the temporal hairline and continues around the ear and ends in the scalp behind the ear
  2. Soft tissue (SMAS) is mobilized and repositioned to create a foundation for youthful facial contour
  3. Skin is lifted and redraped over the soft tissue foundation. Excess skin is removed and the wounds are closed

  • After shower dry the wound by gently applying clean cotton. Reapply antibiotic ointment after that
  • Elevate the head while sleeping to reduce swelling
  • Finish the oral antibiotic prescribed
  • Avoid heavy excise for at least 3-4 weeks
  • Sutures are removed after 7 days
