EPICANTHOPLASTY

EPICANTHOPLASTY

Introduction
alt
For many East Asian, the upper eyelid extends medially as a skin fold covering the inner corner of the eye. This skin fold which covers the inner corner is called the epicanthal fold. The presence of the epicanthal fold makes the eye appears short, round and small. Epicanthoplasty is a minor surgery to remove the epicanthal fold and ‘open up’ the inner corner of the eye. The effect is to make the eye appears longer and bigger.
